Quimper Broderie Charger
The 2 Breton figures in the center of this plate were inspired by drawings of Paul Fouillen, an artisit working at the Quimper factories in the 1940s. The plate measures 12 1/2'' in diameter. The outer rim of the plate is adorned by a type of decoration called "perlé" or broderie (resembling embroiderie). Each dot was applied to the surface of the plate by hand and looks like little pearls. As this was a very time consuming and expensive process, the production of such pieces was ended towards the end of the 1940s /1950s.
Signatures appear on the back of the plate as well as on the front. The plate is in excellent condition and would be a terrific addition to any collection.

Quimper Broderie Covered Butter/Cheese Plate
This covered plate is a wonderful companion to the charger above, having been made using the same broderie or "perle" process. It measures 7'' in diameter. The plate and the cover were each signed. The lovely Breton figures represent the typical styles of this period in Quimper, France.

Quimper La Petite Bretonne Charger
This large charger is 12 1/2'' in diameter consisting of three blue stripes and a wide yellow band around the rim. The hand-painted figure of La Petite Bretonne is bright, clear and detailed. This piece is from the Henriot factory, circa 1925.

Le Petit Breton design depicts the peasant dress typical of the villiages in Brittany, France. This piece measures 7 1/2'' in diameter. Two blue stripes and a wide yellow band surround the plate. Produced at the Henriot factory, circa 1920' - 30's.

Antique Geometric Plate
Pale yellow octagon-shaped plate. This piece was produced at the Grande Maison, de la Hubaudiere, or the HB factory. The dots, dashes and other Morse code-type symbols identified the individual artist who completed the piece. These symbols were used as signatures until about 1942, therefore dating this piece somewhere before that time.
